If you’ve never cruised in modern luxury before, now is the time to try it. The Celebrity Silhouette is part of the solstice class of ships, ideal for relaxation or adventure. Launched in July 2011, the ship can hold 2,886 passengers when full.
There are 16 passenger decks to explore, the ideal place to start your holiday is on top deck (deck 16), the solstice deck, where there are plenty of places to sit outdoors and soak up some sun whilst cruising.
Deck 13 is the place to head for if you want a sun lounger, here you can also find the pools as well, great for a refreshing dip whilst you are on holiday. And if you want the ultimate in pampering, head to the Canyon Ranch Spa, whilst walking around here, I nearly got lost – it’s so big, there every type of pampering you could ever wish for!
Decks 12-6 are passenger decks with a range of staterooms from inside to oceanview and balconies to suites. There is a number of balcony staterooms on board, all with their own private veranda – what better way to wake up with breakfast on your balcony! The decks are easily accessed with the glass fronted lifts. Look out for the breakout areas on each floor and the real growing tree!
The Cellar Masters is the on board pub with vintage wines from around the world and don’t miss the Martini Bar, the ice toped bar where waiters will put on a show. Don’t forget to write your name in the ice!
The Grand Cuvee restaurant spans Decks 4 and Deck 3 with its impressive wine cooler, plus also on Deck 3 there is the passport bar and the reception to help you whilst on holiday.
Sadly I was only on board for a short time, if you’ve been cruising before on a 4* ship; why not take the step up to Celebrity Cruises. This is 5* cruising. This is modern luxury..
Fresh out of dry dock in May 2015, I was one of the first few people on board for a 2 night mini-cruise to Le Havre. New features include a new restaurant exclusively for suite class passengers called Luminae; Gastrobar with craft beers; World Class Bar, Slush cocktail bar by the pool and an improved on board casino.
The Celebrity Eclipse is part of the Solstice class of ships, and one of the main features on top deck is the Lawn Club – yes that is real grass on the top deck, a team of gardeners work on the ship year round! You can have drinks, sunbathe, have a picnic or play games on the lawn club. By the Lawn Club is the Hot Class Show, an impressive display right in front of your eyes. There is a quiet Solstice Deck, which is great for relaxation, as well as the main pool and Jacuzzis and plenty of places to lay out in the sun, and also lots of areas if you want to lay in the shade as well. There are private cabanas in the adult only solarium, which is a heated area for pool – great for all weather conditions.
On Deck 14, as well as the Lawn Club, you will also find the basketball courts and the kids clubs – they will be entertained for hours, whilst you enjoy yourself! When your sailing out of a port – head to the Sky Observation Lounge on Deck 14 for panoramic rooms, a great place for pre-dinner cocktails.
Deck 12 will take you to the impressive spa area – with treatment rooms spanning over two decks with a quiet relaxation room and a beauty salon, you can truly get pampered whilst on your cruise holiday.
There’s an impressive collection of shops on board as well, over two decks – you can literally get anything here from sweets to hand bags, from branded clothing to cuff links, from perfume to children’s toys. Remember that the shops aren’t open when the ship is in port, only when at sea or during sailing in the evening.
Deck 4, Promenade Deck, you will find a number of lounges and bars including Cellar Masters, Martini Bar (with real ice bar), Crush, Fortunes Casino and Quasar the nightclub – which you can throw some shapes on the dancefloor until 5am… so I am told!
The Eclipse Theatre spans over decks 3 and 4 and offers great broadway, west end style shows every night of your cruise holiday.
There is an impressive collection of staterooms on board Celebrity Eclipse. The entry level is interior staterooms, followed by oceanview staterooms. I had a deluxe balcony, which was very spacious and had your own balcony to enjoy the sail-away from port. Then there is the suites, ranging from Sky, to Royal and finally the Penthouse Suite which was literally like a maze with all the different rooms – including a walk in shower in a huge bathroom, a very spacious bedroom with a separate walk in wardrobe, a lounge and dining area as well as a bar area – yes all in your own suite!
If you’ve always wanted to enjoy a bit of pampering and some luxury at sea – why not try Celebrity Cruises? I enjoyed a day on board the Celebrity Infinity, sampling the modern luxury lifestyle.
Containing some of the latest innovations at sea, the Celebrity Infinity is a must for all cruises connoisseurs. On walking round, it is quite surprising how modern and sleek the ship is and if your after space – this ship has plenty of it! The best place to enjoy views is the Constellation Lounge, complete with a bar that turns into a disco at night – I must try this when next on board!
For pampering, the Canyon Ranch Spa is a favourite amongst Celebrity Cruises, its packed with relaxation and pampering treatments. For the technology buffs, the Celebrity iLounge is backed with Apple products – from iPod to iPad’s, there are staff on board who can show you and give you tips on how to make the most of your devices, this seems a really good concept for the cruiser, and had I been on board longer, I would have stayed longer here.
Never miss a minute of the action, sailing into all those beautiful ports in a balcony stateroom. Most of the staterooms on board the Infinity contain a private balcony so you can have breakfast in France, sunbathe in the Caribbean or take in the scenery of the Fjords from here. For the ultimate in travelling, a luxurious Penthouse Suites gives incredible views and even a butler, you are on holiday after all so push the boat out J
Food – basically served around the clock! The Qsine restaurant, lets you order your food direct from an iPad! Whether you want a sandwich, salad, light bite, main course, 5 courses, 8 courses plus snacks , you can get it on board from a variety of restaurants.
Holding just over 2,000 passengers, Celebrity Infinity is a beautiful ship, and I must get on board for longer next time… just trying to pick the right itinerary now…
